* Begin Scene *
* B.@.D walked into the warehouse where he agreed to turn himself in. He took a deep breath. He looked around. There was no one there.
He sighed and walked further into the warehouse. It had been a long bus ride. He had felt bad about leaving without saying goodbye, but he didn’t want to make it harder on everyone. He had never been big on goodbyes, and if they didn’t know how he felt about them by now, a long drawn-out goodbye wasn’t going to change that.
He realized he was still wearing the cross on his chest. They we’re less clunky than the old dog tags. He supposed he should take the cross off so they could not confiscate it when they arrested him. He could ask for it back once he was put in custody.
He reached around and unfastened the clasp. He held it in his left hand. He looked at it for a second. He did not like not having it on, but… *
I told you last year it wasn’t over, B.@.D.
* B.@.D froze. He spun around.
G.g.B was standing there. He was smiling at B.@.D, and his eyes glowed green. A bunch of SWAT was behind him, and he was followed by another man who spoke next. *
Tate: Easy now, B.@.D, don’t make this any harder than it needs to be.
* B.@.D looked at the soldiers. There we’re at least 200 of them. There we’re two distinct uniforms, and B.@.D realized that there we’re TWO sets of SWAT soldiers with their guns trained on them. Half Canadian, and half United States. He supposed the other man who was not in a uniform beside Bush was the leader of the Canadian forces.
* To Tate *
What the hell is he doing here?
We’re just here to make sure everything goes smoothly, B.@.D. We don’t need a repeat of what happened in Iraq.
You mean where we freed the innocent man YOU framed as Saddam Hussein? I didn’t have anything to do with the destruction of Iraq, that was you and O.s.H trying to…
Please, B.@.D… you and your stories. You’ve been spinning them for years, now. But today, that comes to an end.
Tate: That’s enough, B.@.D.
This man is possessed! He wants to destroy the world!
Tate: We will take you in a van to the place where you will be in custody until you are deported to the U.S.
Commander Tate, myself and some of my men will be accompanying B.@.D in the van.
Tate: Mr. Bush, this is our operation. He is not in your custody yet. The men in the van are my men, not yours.
* G.g.B turned and looked at Tate with dark eyes. *
Commander, this is not up for debate. Me and my men accompany B.@.D in the van. I’ve dealt with him before.
* Tate reluctantly nodded and looked at B.@.D and squinted. G.g.B just smiled.
B.@.D carefully considered his position. If he got in the van, G.g.B an his men would surely kill him. If that was not their plan, then why was he there? He knew G.g.B was not at all interested in making sure B.@.D got a fair trial. He may not have been able to convince anyone else, but he knew it was true.
But at least, if he took a shot now… he could go down fighting. He could at least take a shot at trying to end G.g.B.
Knowing what he knew about how G.g.B wanted to end the world, he could really see no other choice. He had a chance to end this, no matter how small… and if he was going to die anyways, he may as well die trying.
B.@.D looked at the cross in his right hand. He held his right hand at his side, and prepared to reach into the rear holster for his concealed rear weapon. *
Tate: B.@.D, I’m asking you respectfully. Kneel, interlace your fingers, and put your hands on your head.
* B.@.D looked at the cross in his right hand, then at Tate… *
… I kneel only to God.
* Demetrius stiffened and looked worried. G.g.B smiled, as if he finally had found his opportunity. B.@.D prepared to reach for his weapon. B.@.D then looked directly at G.g.B, and smiled. *
… I don’t see him here.
* B.@.D saw G.g.B's eyes glow green, and moved his right hand toward his gun, but before the arm could move what seemed like an inch, he heard a gunshot… a single gunshot.
… before he felt a bullet pierce his heart. As it seemingly took him forever to fall to the ground, he tried to reason that at least he had tried to do something good as he took the last breath. But as he dropped his cross and his eyes closed, he wished he had at least been able to reach his gun and get one shot at G.g.B before he had been shot. And he wished he had been think of a better thought to have been his last before his world went dark…
Fade out. *
* B.@.D opened his eyes, half expecting to see nothing, half expecting to see a white light. *
… whoa.
* He looked around, and tried to process what he was seeing. He blinked, opened his eyes, and saw the same thing. He didn’t understand.
He saw the old B.@.Dcave. After it had collapsed over a year and a half ago. Just before he had gone into hiding. Even before Mizzle had joined him they had even formed the B.@.Dcrew with P.c.P.
He felt for the cross he wore on his chest and found his old dog tags… the same ones he had worn at the time. He looked down and saw he was wearing the same thing that he was wearing on the day the old B.@.Dcave had collapsed. He felt on his head; felt that his hair was the same. His facial hair, even. He remembered that day as clear as he remembered anything in his life.
… was he dead? Was his life flashing before his eyes? *
You’re not dead, B.@.D.
* B.@.D spun around and his heart jumped. *
… P.c.P.
Not… exactly. I’ve simply assumed his form and brought you here so that I could talk to you.
You brought me… back in time?
That’s right.
What about… B.@.D a year and a half ago…? Where’s he?
He’s you.
… then who just got shot in that warehouse in Toronto?
From where we are right now, that… hasn’t happened yet.
That’s a load of crap and you know it… so why am I here?
There’s a lot more going on here than you realize, B.@.D.
Like what?
B.@.D, look around. Do you remember this day?
Kind of hard to forget.
And yet… there’s something about this day that you never knew. And never thought to question.
Like what?
Like what caused the B.@.Dcave to collapse on this day.
* B.@.D immediately stopped. He was then stunned to realize that not only did he NOT know what had triggered the collapse of the B.@.Dcave on this day, but he was far more perplexed as to WHY he had never wondered about it until now. *
… how could I have never wondered about a thing like that…?
Like I said, there’s a lot more going on here than you realize.
… so explain it.
The collapse of the B.@.Dcave at the end of 2004 triggered a series of events. Those events, starting with this, brought you to where you are now.
So how did this happen?
Three people we’re involved in the collapse of this cave.
Who?
* Whatever was posing as P.c.P gestured behind B.@.D’s back. B.@.D turned around and saw 3 cloaked figures, unrecognizable, leaving the rubble where the old B.@.Dcave once was before it was rebuilt. *
… who are they?
… you... wouldn’t believe me if I told you right now. You will find out in time.
… so I’m NOT dead? I don’t understand how I could survive a bullet to the heart.
You’ll understand when I send you back.
So what was the point of all this?
What I brought you here to impress upon you, B.@.D, is that you must stay the course. Wanting to turn yourself in for the good of your friends was part of the path, and it will lead to your next step, but do not lose faith again. Everything is dependant on you, B.@.D. Life will be different after this, but you must not lose hope. You are what will determine whether G.g.B and O.s.H will be able to end the world. It may not seem like it when you go back, but it is true. The months ahead will be difficult, but you must continue to have faith. Do you understand?
No, I don’t understand... what the HELL is going on here? How did you bring me here? How am I not dead? How is this all about me?
Just keep the faith, B.@.D. That's all you need to do.
If you’re not P.c.P… who are you?
* And as soon as he asked the question, B.@.D’s world went white this time, instead of dark. *
* Fade out. *
* Fade into the warehouse. Tate knelt over B.@.D’s body, and looked up at G.g.B after taking his pulse. *
Tate: … he’s dead.
* G.g.B looked wary. He walked over to B.@.D’s body and felt for a pulse. When he felt nothing, he stook a deep breath, and closed his eyes... and he smiled. *
... it’s over. It’s done.
Tate: I would be interested to know who shot him, Mr. Bush. I was hoping we could resolve this peacefully and get B.@.D to trial.
It would be easy to assume someone panicked, Commander. It did appear B.@.D was reaching for a weapon. I will question my men, as I’m sure you will yours.
* Tate looked Bush in the eye and shook his head. *
Tate: … hear no evil.
... I beg your pardon?
Tate: You heard me.
… Mr. Tate, thank you again for your assistance today, but it’s time for us to return to the United States.
* G.g.B looked Tate in the eye one more time before his men turned and headed for the door, Tate looking after them. Tate then took his men and headed out the door as well, after assigning a soldier to handle the transfer of the body to the morgue. *
* Fade out. *
* Fade into G.g.B with his men in the truck. *
So… who took the shot? Who killed B.@.D?
* The men all looked at each other. No one raised there hand.
G.g.B looked perplexed. *
… maybe one of Tate’s men DID panic. As long as it’s done. If B.@.D is dead, there is no one left who can stand in my way.
* Fade out. *
* Fade back into the warehouse. *
* The guard who had stayed behind knelt over B.@.D’s body. He sighed. He wished it hadn’t had to come to this.
He took off his helmet and reached for his walkie talkie. *
* Into walkie talkie. *
… It’s done. Get in here quick.
* Mizzle ran his hands over his head, sadness nearly tearing him apart, wondering how it had come to this. *
* Fade out. *
* End Scene *
