It's 3 AM. After laying in bed for 2 hours, and reading for 1 of those hours, I still cannot get to sleep. Up all of yours for being able to sleep. Thank God I'm working night shifts and will be able to sleep more tomorrow.
Hate, hate, hate.
Kill, kill, kill.
Kill, crush, destroy.
Anyways, since I'm obviously going to have a s*it night when it comes to the sleeps anyways, I did something constructive. For those of the Japanese wrestling fans that e-mailed me telling me to take in some Japanese wrestling, I finally gave into your demands. I've only seen bits and peices of Japanese wrestling, and I never really wanted to get into it any further, the only reason being is that it makes the wrestling I watch on TV every week look like ass. I know there's a million things wrong with that statement, but leave me alone, it's late.
It's a backwards compliment to Japanese wrestling. So I started researching around for a match to watch. Which match would be best to introduce me to this new area of the "sport" (ha!) that I love?
I came across a lot of talk about a very recent match between Kobashi and Sasaki. That match even has underground cred here in North America, and I'm pretty sure I've heard of Sasaki before, but then I read that it had gotten very mixed reviews. Some said "best match ever", some said "worst match ever". But I wanted to go in fresh, so I skipped the reviews, and the only thing I looked up was the back story to the match.
Then I downloaded it. Bless you, LimeWire.
Then I watched it.
What I came out with?
I need to watch more Japanese wrestilng. Especially FMW. Was that match FMW? S*it, now I can't even remember. That's how good the match was.
Then I went to check out the message boards and see what other people thought about the match. What I had heard about mixed reviews was true. I agreed with most of the good reviews. The bad reviews gave me a bit of a shoulder chip. I hate when fans try to dictate what makes a good match. They've never been in the ring, so they can say that they liked it or didn't, but cannot say what should have been taken out or put in. You try working a room with 20,000 people in it.
The biggest complaint was Sasaki no-selling the chops. In my mind, that chop battle was nothing short of awesome. Do I really have to explain one guy on his comeback after a year, in his home turf, not wanting to back down?
Holy hell, listen to me. I'm babbling about a match that took place on foreign soil. No-selling is only bad if you make a habit of it. See Goldberg, Bill. See Warrior, The Ultimate. Now I hate everybody who hated that match. I'm going to no-sell your mother giving birth to you.
This man is one of my new wrestilng heroes. I'm totally going to steal his facial hair.
