Revelation: Believe

It's an interesting thing what happens to some of the people in your life when you start to show some faith. Some have the theory is that the only reason that my faith is a little more visible is because of Aleta. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Now, I'm not naming any names. The people who really matter in my life will not judge, and if they are curious, they can ask. If they're going to make assumptions about me and judge me... then do they really care about me to begin with? Most of my friends, Mizzle and Katastrophe included, will ask. And regardless of what they believe themselves, they respect what I believe. And those are friends. Real friends. Good friends. Like most of the friends that I have are.

For the rest of you who've asked or are curious, my faith started years ago. It just wasn't as visible, not on the outside anyways. What Aleta has done for me is made me realize some things and given me some outlets. Also made me realize what's important about the faith I do have. That's it. That's all there is to it.

One misconception is that just because I have faith, that I am going to beat everyone over the head with a Bible. That's not going to happen. Ever. I believe that is what turns people away from God more than anything else, and that is just not me.

And speaking of that, I am not "religious". Religion refers to people living in fear of God and following a bunch of rules because they think that's what He wants. Those people also tend to believe that God is only the guy who punishes you and waits for you to screw up. I believe that both of those things could not be further from the truth.

But my faith is mine, and mine alone. No one is responsible for what I believe besides myself.

I know that no matter what I say, there are some people, several people in particular, who will not believe me. That's just the way life is. But I don't need to defend myself to anyone. And you know what, my beliefs do not require anyone to believe that I believe what I believe.

God Bless,
B.a.D

I feel a bit weird that you've been saying godbless after all but one of your posts for the last month. Do you feel this may be a way of you pushing it on others? As opposed to those who have faith, but find no need whatsoever to display it with a statment unless speaking to others whom are of the same faith? I'm not trying to be an asshole to you or anybody about this. But to me, having faith is enough to have, for you have it for yourself and yourself alone. As you state "mine and mine alone". Does having it not mean enough to you (as you state it does) do you need to bring it into the middle of the blog and drag it around like it has been the last month I'm glad you have found (or always had) but I just feel like you are showing it and talking about it and hanging it out there more then necessary. I know a million people who are very religious or just have faith, and to be honest with you, other then they're occasional prayers to themselves at meals etc. it's not ever used in daily conversations. Or ever even talked about outside of the context.

I'm proud of you and your finding, if we knew eachother I might understand, but to me, it's getting to be as common as good bye, and should be held sacred and close to your heart instead. Especially out of respect for those who maybe havn't found faith or whom do not believe in faith.

Not to mention how it should be as common as day to you and not needed as a signature to your writing unless this was intended for faithful viewers only, such as a religious magazine or something of that nature.

Again, not to start a fight, I'm just stating something that might be necessary to be heard. Proud of you and your finding.

to the long comment:

to some of us, we DO wish blessing on everyone, and im not speaking for BAD, but i believe thats what hes saying. maybe im wrong.

however, that shouldnt be taken as something that bothers somebody, that should be taken as a "goodbye". people wish you well when you say "goodbye", and i think thats all hes employing

Anonymous said...

yea i enjoyed reading about it. im not religious or have ever really thought about my faith but i know that in reading that about bad, hes not pushing it on me. hes simply stating a fact about himself. and i enjoyed reading it. and not for a second did i think this was a "religious" blog

Anonymous said...

dude did u even READ the post????

"god bless" is not pushing faith

Anonymous said...

Not so much saying that it's pushing, but I myself feel it is not necessary to say god bless to all others, all the time. I'm pointing out the hanging it out there fact. Good for you, you found faith, enjoy it, why do you need to say how special it is to you to have, and how you're not going to hit people with bibles, but tell them god bless with every parting? Flame me if you need to take attention of the point. I don't mind. But consider the question/statement of why it's needed all the time.

Anonymous said...

its not NEEDED

its not supposed to bother anyone

Anonymous said...

yea man even im not religious and i know that, and i like it

Anonymous said...

i think anyone thats been reading BAD with any kind of regularity knows that hes ALWAYS respected EVERYONES religious beliefts even BEFORE this happened to him

Anonymous said...

i am a person with no religious affinity whatsoever

STILL, i know that "God Bless" is a saying expressing good wishes. regardless of whether i share that faith or not, i receive it as that and am appreciative of it.

how cna you NOT be appreciative of good wishes?????

hey come on people, lets leave BAD with his faith, im with ya, but lets not give the wierdo any more ammo to use, ya know?

real topic:
what do u think the next BADsaga installment will be about?

Anonymous said...

yochanan sees the lite and helps them get GGB finally

Anonymous said...

See, just flame out of defense for the popularity and majority, instead of defending yourself or pondering the unecessary blessings. Like it was the next trend after Gangster/Jock/Monk.

To the long commenter:

God Bless is not to be taken as offensive, or forceful by any means, it is simply a statement. Very much along the lines of 'have a good day', or 'bless you' when somebody sneezes.

You're saying that 'enough is enough' stop talking about your faith, good for you you found it, etc. etc. But, y'know what? This is BAD'S live-journal (notice the URL you had to type to get here? and the title? He has always, and will always, talk about HIS life. Why should we be able to dictate what he talks about, or doesn't? He's posted twice now, in the many years he's been doing this, about his faith. I believe one post awhile ago was simply a touch on the subject, and this last one. He is by no means forcing his faith on us, he is simply telling us how he's found something to believe in. If we aren't here to read stories from BAD's life (houseboating, Star Wars vs. Wreck) then WHY do we come to see the site?

If all you want it BADSagas, don't come back till end of December/January, and then in May/June, as those are generally when he takes his 'season breaks'.

Good on ya BAD

Anonymous said...

Yeah good point. But it might kill the site a bit. Meh, good on all of us.

Anonymous said...

wtf? mizzle had a post on here... now its gone

Anonymous said...

Maybe he realized he was just debating our debating so deleted it?

either way I'm confused...

Anonymous said...

clusterfuck anyone???

Anonymous said...

BADSAGA:
yochanan will be hunted down and killed by GGB, bad and others will take him down afterwards

Anonymous said...

eeeeyikes

Anonymous said...

come on people lets figure out something more cheerful, and lets face it, more interesting things to talk about

i think Yochanan will go after bush and fail, or get put under a spell or something

Anonymous said...

nah that doenst make sense, he already is / was evil, why turn him that way again

Anonymous said...

Samoa Joe should make an appearance in the next BADSaga!

Anonymous said...

Miz - Why DID it bug you so much about the debating? It was simple harmless conversation... wasn't it?

Anonymous said...

Miz - well then, (I made the "to the long commenter" post up here) I appoligize if I made you (or anyone else here) disrespected, it certainly wasn't my intention.
