As i sat on the train this morning i had a brain wave - why doesn't someone create a business where by they attach an extra carriage or two onto the train which contain fitness equipment? They have a captive market of hundreds just sitting there idle for at least 60 minutes to work and 60 minutes from work.

The crowd is mainly middle-upper class who commute to Melbourne daily. Therefore, statistics show that these are the people who pay for gym memberships etc. I could easily 'walk' my way to Melbourne every morning. It saves having to find time before and after work for a workout!

mmmmmmmmm there would probably be a way to make it work, man it would be a great idea if it WAS able to be pulled off

Wouldn't work... why? Because you'd have no shower or locker facilities... without another car. You'd have a few thousand people trying to use about 10 pieces of equipment. And the gym is supposed to be a sanctuary for people to hang out, socialize or just be themselves in a relaxed environment where they focus on bettering themselves, exercise isn't something to do for the heck of it.

You'd also lose revenue in the space where you have 10 or so working out, you could have at least 50 sitting there. And seats don't require maintenance and or supervision.

Just a thought.

Y'know - it could be feasable. However not for the average joe.

they COULD set it up for the more "high end" train patrons, the 10 out of 100 that ride and can afford it.

But - unfortunatly it'd never happen. too bad though...

B.a.d and I had a conversation on the phone early this morning regarding the gym on the train. And we decided the train would have to be more like a building then a train... and not just any building, we're talking your average wal-mart... then we re-opened the issue of lost revenue and came to a decision that we are the coolest people in the world.

This has been a fun little debate.

Ah you guys make me laugh... it was really just a thought that popped into my head while sitting on the train, listening to my ipod pump out something dancy and feeling like i wanted to get up and be active.

For info - our trains are pretty long, and since we are an hour out of the city, they're not subway trains. Yes, i admit that on furhter thinking that it would be very unfeasible.

LoL i like the fact people took time to think about it though, i don't think i even gave the thought that much detailed attention!

Thanks for making me smile today everyone...
