Actually, why do I always seem to start these things like I'm having a conversation with you? I guess I'm trying to engage the reader. Nothing wrong with that, just like there's nothing wrong with the fact that I answer all of these questions myself anyways. And that when I do, I do it in John Abruzzi from Prison Break's voice.

Anywhoot, I figured I should try to break the monotony of stories and things about my life. I figure I'll touch on those sometime soon, but there's no way I'm going to make this into a personal site. I mean, even if it IS stuff about my life, it's got to be better than anything Mizzle or Katastrophe has posted on the site in the last 6 months, right? (Except for Mizzle's comments... I still mark out for those so bad that he's got to be close to a restraining order. COURT PROCEEDINGS JUST PROVE HOW MUCH YOU CARE, DAMMIT!)
But I figure at least 75% of the people who read this have no idea who I am anyways, so why do they care what's going on with me?

So since I used up some of my best material in the introduction, this is going to be quick... basically a bunch of women weren't getting promoted at Wal-Mart so they decided to turn it into a lawsuit. And now, every woman on the continent who works at Wal-Mart who has not gotten promoted is free to jump in on the suit for their peice of the pie.
Now, I'm not a fan of Wal-Mart (obviously, if you ever read the Wal-Mart B.a.Dsaga where I nuked the sucker) and I'm certainly not privy to who these women are or the details of their employment histories, but it seems to me that the type of women who would go ahead and sue WAL-MART becuase they're not getting the promotions they "deserve", are only LESS of a joke than the women who would HEAR about this lawsuit and then try to get in.
I mean, seriously, please. This is like the guy who works at McDonalds for 6 years and doesn't get the promotion to "team leader" that he feels he deserves, so he goes over to Wendy's and spends his first 6 months there telling people what a joke McDonald's was until everyone's so, so sick of him that they need to beat him with a sack full of doorknobs just to quiet the voices in their heads telling them to drown him in the grease trap.
If you are an employee of Wal-Mart, and instead of, I dunno, looking somewhere OTHER than WAL-MART for employment advancement opportunities, you decide to sue... you are either one of those people who:
- cripple yourselves doing mundane tasks every 2 weeks and go on WCB for 5 years
- complain to absolutely everybody about absolutely everything under the sun
- a shit disturber
- or you are just good old fashioned plain and simple batshit crazy
What I'm trying to say, I suppose, is that you MAY not deserve a promotion.

... and of course, NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A WAL-MART MANAGER, and those women who DO want to be managers, if they have half a brain and are not one of the above, most likely will find the oppotunity somewhere else where it makes more sense, like, I dunno, anywhere but WAL-MART.
Some lawsuits decry explanation to me. It's unbelieveable that anyone is even considering this.
I hope you found this article mildly diverting. I think it's surprisingly good for the car-wreck it could have been, but what do I know?

For anyone who is wondering about the B.a.D/Co-op situation, let me see if I can take some of this weight off B.a.D's shoulders.
B.a.D being interested in management could have been one of the best things to ever happen to this company. He was straight-up and believed in doing things the right way.
He led by example, and he took young people with him who we're willing to put their effort in, whose talents would have been wasted on a front end or in a deli because of how they "looked" or how "young they we're". He gave them a chance and legitimately cared about people he chose to consdier friends at work.
There was a lot of buzz here at H.O. when he became interested in management, especially having come out of the Peggy/Kathy/HR/HS triangle about a year before.
But, as anyone could have called it, his unwarrented reputation as someone who doesn't "lay down" for HR hindered the negotiations. And from day one of those negotiations, B.a.D did everything he could to be professional. There was only ONE THING he wasn't willing to do, and when they found that out, that became the one thing they wanted him to do.
Why? This company needed managers in every area, and why not put a capable young person with drive and a proven track record of being well-rounded and managirally sound somewhere where he WANTED to be, especially with those positions open? Would that not mean he would be motivated to perform better, which would mean he would... perform better???
In the end, B.a.D stood his ground, and for that I am proud of him. He got not his first choice, but he didn't take what they we're trying to shove down his throat, either.
But as soon as he started the job, the BS started. They tried to shove that same thing down his throat when he was already doing the job he signed on for.
B.a.D is a smart man. He did not stay around for long when that started. He would not give into it, but he was sick of hearing it and sick of being pushed when they KNEW he wouldn't take it.
But he had worked smart and saved a lot of money. So he left. Now he's in a good position. He doesn't need to work if he doesn't want to, not like never, but he doesn't need to take the first jobs that come along either.
So long story short, Calgary Co-op dropped the ball on B.a.D. All they ever needed to let him do was be B.a.D, be himself, and maybe he could have improved things around here.
But they, HR, pushed. As they have to a hundred deserving people before and they will with a hundred other people in the future. And these people. like B.a.D, we're wiling to put the BS in this company behind them to try to do a good job.
But they missed their chance when they tried to push. Good for B.a.D, BAD for Co-op. They missed the boat, now another company will get the benefit of B.a.D's hard work and talent and commitment.
You are missed, B.a.D. But much better things await you. You deserved better.
