Happy Birthday to ME

Last weekend saw myself, my boy and my best friend grow another year older. It's always so annoying to have our birthday's so close together - each family wants a piece of you, friends want to take you out until the wee hours of the morning, and there are more meals spent in restaurants than at any other time of the year.

We had drinks at a cute little cocktail bar last Saturday night, during which the best friend confessed to having a stomach bug and finally went home looking ghostly white. I stayed for a couple more, and shortly after 2am the boy and i hailed a cab and headed home. Shortly after 2:15am i was laying in bed watching the room spin, and running to the bathroom.

Sunday morning i awake with a pounding headache to the much too chirpy boy who is singing Happy Birthday, presenting thoughtful gifts and then bounding out to cook breakfast. I stayed in bed barely able to open more than one eye for a couple of hours.

So as you can see, the actual birthday weekend wasn't exactly the highlight of my year to date. This weekend however, we all made up for it. We had about 20 people over for a bbq and the night was fantastic. There was alot of beer, punch and champagne consumed, but i had such a fun night. I woke up feeling fit and healthy too, which was quite a bonus!

Yesterday about 12 of us headed down to the tennis courts near our house and spent 5 hours playing tennis and basketball (boys rules, and none of them seemed fair to the girls). All in all, i have to say the best birthday i've had for awhile.
